Delete it yourself, in the app
The fastest way:
- Open the PodsCool app, or sign in at podscool.com.
- Go to Account → Settings.
- Scroll to Delete my account.
- Read what will be removed, then confirm.
If you have pods or enrollments in progress, deletion cancels them and issues any refunds owed before your account is removed. If a refund cannot be settled at that moment, deletion stops and tells you which pod and why, so that nothing is erased while money is still owed to a family. Once it settles, run it again.
Or ask us to do it
Email support@podscool.com from the address on your PodsCool account, with the subject Delete my account. We will confirm within 30 days.
If you are a parent asking us to delete a child’s record, say which child. We will remove that student without touching the rest of your account.
What gets deleted
- Your profile: name, email address, photo and biography.
- Your students’ records: first name and grade for a managed child; the account link for a child with their own sign-in.
- Your messages, reviews, saved pods and wishlist.
- Work turned in, quiz answers, grades and class discussion posts.
- For teachers: your pods are canceled and your listings removed.
What we have to keep, and for how long
Some records cannot be deleted on request, because the law requires us to hold them:
- Payment and tax records — retained as required by US tax and financial regulations, typically seven years. These are held by our payment processor, Stripe, and by us in summary form. We never store card numbers.
- Safety reports — if you were reported, or reported someone else, that record is retained so we can keep the platform safe.
- A one-way hash of your email address — kept so a deleted account cannot immediately be recreated to evade a block. It cannot be reversed to recover your address.
Everything else is removed. Backups are overwritten on our provider’s ordinary cycle, within 90 days.
Deleting some data without deleting your account
You do not have to close your account to remove information:
- Remove a student — Account → My Students → select the child → Remove. A child with their own sign-in can be unlinked, which detaches them from your account.
- Delete something you posted — teachers can delete any assignment, question, material or quiz from the pod it lives in.
- Delete a reply — you can remove your own reply in a class discussion.
- Anything else — email support@podscool.com and tell us what to remove.
Children
A child under 13 cannot hold a PodsCool account. Younger students are added by a parent as a managed profile, which stores a first name and a grade and nothing else. A parent can delete that profile at any time from Account → My Students, or by emailing us.
